Context: The fighter is a 6'3" muscle-bound man who rarely speaks (and is played by a 5'6" woman). While in-character, the necromancer tends to gesture the way his character does. Add in a vulgar gunslinger who says whatever pops into her head and…

Gunslinger: In short, we’re fu–

Necromancer: Shut up! There are children here! *points in a random direction as he says this, ends up pointing at the fighter*

*everyone goes silent*

Fighter, in a gruff voice: I’m 12 years old, y'know.

So

I’ve been listening to My Brother My Brother and Me for awhile now and am slowly making my way through the Adventure Zone

But a couple of weeks back I decided to try Sawbones which is the show Justin does with his wife about medical mishaps throughout history

I realised immediately that Kiddo who LOVES learning about gross medical stuff was going to adore it

So I listened to a few and curated the ones before they started saying warning before hand and set it up so Kiddo could listen to them on their phone

They have been listening and talking about Sawbones almost non stop since then.

And I thought “ah job well done!”

And then they were listening to an episode this morning and suddenly paused to look at me with joy radiating off of them

Because Justin and Sydnee acknowledged transgender people when discussing genetics and they said “Mom! They said that your gender isn’t necessarily what you’re assigned at birth as! They know! They get it!” and I honestly could have cried with how happy that made them

To have creators they look up to validate their existence meant the WORLD to them

So when Kiddo was in school I found a contact page for Justin and let him know

But goddamnit I am so glad I found the McElroy brothers even coming late to the game because as a parent that moment made my crappy week a hell of a lot better

(Justin replied quickly by the way thanking me for sending the message and he is a very polite nice man)
